Lake County Sheriff's Reserve Deputy Unit
Deputy Chief Dennis Delia welcomes seven new recruits to the 2011 RBTC ... See News & Events..
At the December unit meeting, Deputy Chief Dennis Delia just announced that the Reserve Deputy Unit completed over 17,400 hours of service in 2010, eclipsing last year's record total by over 1,400 hours. That is quite an impressive accomplishment and even more impressive, at a cost of "zero" to the tax payers of Lake County. We would like to remind the citizens of Lake County that all the Reserve Deputies that you see on the street, assisting you in public safety, are volunteers that donate their time to make certain that the public can attend local functions and events safely.
The unit began as a neighborhood watch program in 1978 that reported suspicious activity and crimes in progress to the Sheriff's Department. A desire for further involvement lead to the formation of Mobile Eye One, a unit used for search and rescue missions in Lake County and assisting other local municipalities with traffic control.
In 1978, the original 16 members of Mobile Eye One were sworn in as Lake County Sheriff Reserve Deputies. Today, the Lake County Sheriff's Reserve Deputy Unit is a dedicated group of 50 sworn Reserve Deputies whose contribution to community service is in the area of law enforcement.
