Deputy Chief Dennis Delia Welcomes New Recruit Class
On Thursday, December 1st, Deputy Chief Dennis Delia welcomed the recruit class #12-01. The sixteen participants (recruits) are projected to graduate on May 1, 2012 after 140 hours of training in topics including traffic control, policies & procedures, defensive tactics, hazmat and legal procedures.
Deputy Chief Dennis Delia Welcomes four new members to the Lake County Sheriff Reserve Deputy Unit
On Saturday, April 1st, Deputy Chief Dennis Delia welcomed Tristan Fanning, John Larson, Brian Solesky & Mike Wheeler to the LCSRDU. These new members received over 130 hours of intensive training in a variety of subjects and are eager to begin serving the citizens of Lake County. Congratulations to all.
8-Year Veteran of the Unit Announces His Retirement
On April 1, 2011, Deputy Chief Dennis Delia announced the retirement of Quincy Nashfrom the unit effective April 1, 2011. Quincy was an outstanding member of the unit and will be missed.
12-Year Veteran of the Unit Announces His Retirement
On March 1, 2011, Deputy Chief Dennis Delia announced the retirement of Sgt. Roger Lowis from the unit effective March 3, 2011. Roger was an outstanding member of the unit and will be missed. We wish Roger all the best.
8-Year Veteran of the Unit Announces His Retirement
On January 6, 2011, Deputy Chief Dennis Delia announced the retirement of Ray Polcyn from the unit effective February 1, 2011. Ray was an outstanding member of the unit and will be missed. We wish Ray all the best.

9-Year Veteran of the Unit Announces His Retirement
It is with a heavy heart that Deputy Chief Dennis Delia announced the retirement of Jim Shipley from the unit effective September 13, 2010. Jim will be remembered for his undivided energy & accomplishments within the unit. Jim began his career as an RD and quickly was promoted to Sergeant and soon afterwards to Lieutenant. His most recent additional duty assignment was that of the Unit Administrative Officer. Previously, Jim held the positions of Unit Secretary & Public Information Officer. In addition, Jim also served as President and Treasurer of the Lake County Sheriff's reserve Deputy Association. Jim's retirement from the unit will be missed by all and we wish him all the best.
The Lake County Sheriff's Department Participates in the Annual 2010 Law Enforcement Torch Run
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is the single largest year-round fundraising event benefiting Special Olympics Illinois. The annual intrastate relay and its various fundraising projects have two goals: to raise money and to gain awareness for the athletes who participate in Special Olympics Illinois. The Law Enforcement Torch Run has raised more than $16.825 million over 23 years while increasing awareness of Special Olympics Illinois athletes and their accomplishments.
Approximately 3,000 officers representing every branch of law enforcement across the state from local police officers to FBI agents will carry the Flame of Hope nearly 1,500 miles, running through thousands of Illinois communities via 23 different legs (routes) to its final destination – the Opening Ceremonies of the Special Olympics Illinois Summer Games in June in Normal.
This year, 12 individuals participated in the sixth leg of the event on Sunday, June 6th. The torch was passed from the Zion Police Department to Lake County at Sheridan & Wadsworth where the runners carried the torch to Sheridan & Blanchard and passed it off to the Waukegan Police Department.

Under the direction of Training Director, Lieutenant Hugh Gallarneau, assisted by three Assistant Training Officers, Lieutenant Steve Solner, Reserve Deputy Dave Kibitlewski and Reserve Deputy Jack Wagner, these new members received over 130 hours of intensive training in a variety of subjects and are eager to begin serving the citizens of Lake County. Congratulations to all.

New Record of Community Service Set
Deputy Chief Dennis Delia announced at the January unit meeting that over 16,000 hours of community service were performed by the unit in 2009. This milestone shattered the previous record of 14,085 hours that was set in 2008. Congratulations and thank you to all for a job 'well done".
New Reserve Deputy Chief
On January 1, 2010, Lt. Dennis Delia Jr. will be sworn in as the new Deputy Chief of the Lake County Reserve Deputy Unit. Lt. Delia will be replacing Deputy Chief Ryan McCormack who is retiring from the unit after a distinguished career of eight years. Lt. Delia has been a member of the unit since 2001 and in his tenure of nine years, he has be awarded a variety of accolades and awards. Unit Quartermaster since 2002, promoted to Sergeant of the Red Team in 2004, Promoted to Lieutenant of the red Squad in 2006, founding member of the Reserve Deputy Unit Honor Guard, elected to three consecutive terms as the Director of the Reserve Deputy Association, member of the Incident Response Team, appointed Administrative Officer in 2008, voted by his pears as the Command Officer of the Year in 2008 and was honored with the unit's distinguished Crocket Award in 2008. These are just a few of the reason Lt. Dennis Delia Jr. was selected by Sheriff Curran to be the next Deputy Chief of the Lake County Reserve Deputy Unit. Congratulations to Lt. Delia and we all wish you continued success.
The Lake County Reserve Deputy Unit Celebrates Milestone Anniversary
In 2008, the Lake County Sheriff's Reserve Deputy Unit turned 30 years old in 2008 and in addition, set a new record in hours of community service performed in the county in a fiscal year with 14,085.
